Music Has the Right to Children - Boards of Canada
Genres: Ambient electronic, IDM
Now this is an awesome album! This is my first time hearing BoC’s actual music (since “——— / ——— / ——— / XXXXXX / ——— / ———” isn’t really much of a song, despite how cool its 20 seconds are), and I’ve always loved IDM and ambient electronic music, so this is just another release to add right into my collection. The song songs range from crushing IDM to psychedelic trip hop to atmospheric synth-driven interludes. The songs are very minimalistic and don’t change up much at all, but it’s no big deal when the same beats and melodies they’re repeating are really freaking cool. It’s hard to pick a favorite track off of an album as consistently good as this, but “Sixtyten” was a particular stand-out track for me, especially with that intense drum beat. If you like electronic music and haven’t heard Music Has the Right to Children, then go listen to this, NOW!
